MARATHON WINNER’S CIRCLE

Mitaboni Special Unit Project
Mitaboni Village, Kenya

World-class athlete Jonathan Ndambuki is partnering with GO Campaign to realize his dream of providing needed school uniforms for children with disabilities in his home village of Mitaboni.

Unable to attend college due to lack of school fees, Jonathan pursued a running career. In his first year of high school, he was not good enough to compete at the highest level, but his hard work and perseverance paid off. Jonathan has since won many medals and continues to compete. Jonathan uses his winnings to improve the lives of children in need.

Seeing the challenges faced by children living with disabilities in Mitaboni and the surrounding villages, Jonathan is an avid supporter and contributor to The Mitaboni Special Unit Project (MSUP). MSUP is a home where 100 children with disabilities live, receive healthy meals, learn basic life skills and receive individualized attention to help them learn. The teachers at MSUP work closely with their students in the hopes that they will be able to attend a government school and return to live with their families.

Fundraising goal: $3,850

Your donations can provide the following:

$35 School uniform (including undergarments, shoes and socks) for 1 child for a year

Quote from Jonathan

“By providing our children with school uniforms, often the only clothing they have, it gives them a greater sense of self-worth and it can have a significant impact on their lives. They can go to school, return home, and feel more of a part of society. Children who live at the Mitaboni Center and once went to school there, do better in the government-run school because they have had good training and eat well. When they take their exams, their scores are even better than the others!”

Kanini Mwilikya and her brother are both mentally challenged and live at the Mitaboni home. Their mother, who has physical disabilities, is unable to care for them. For many years, their grandmother was taking care of them, but because there are so many children in the family, their special needs were not being met. At Mitaboni home, they are receiving individualized care and will be able to someday return to their home and help with the family responsibilities.
