BLAIRE LARSEN
Biography
Blaire aims to bring creativity, selfawareness, and social justice to the children and youth of her community through arts education.
Blaire is an actress, playwright and director. In 2004, Blaire was recruited by The Angeles Shakespeare Center to work with youth using Applied Theatre techniques and Shakespeare as empowerment tools, and with their support she founded the Los Angeles Drama Club.
The Los Angeles Drama Club have a presence in 6 area schools and 3 local libraries. Through their outreach and programming, they have positively impacted the lives of 1,100 children. For the past 9 years, the organization has successfully produced an annual Shakespeare Youth Festival, showcasing the work of diverse ensembles with young actors ages 616. A large emphasis in the programming turns to social justice as well, and the students involved learn about the issues and challenges such as homelessness in the greater Los Angeles area.
