CHIEF WUMBE DAWUNI

CHIEF WUMBE DAWUNI

Biography

Following in the footsteps of his father, Wumbe Dawuni was sworn in as Chief of the village of Bunbong in northern Ghana in 2013. He is the first university-educated Chief of the village. During his chiefdom, he has undertaken numerous projects to improve the social, economic, and political wellbeing of his community. Utilizing his previous work experience as an entrepreneur in Accra, he has applied his business-sense to improving the livelihoods for all the people in his region while also ensuring that the local culture, tradition, and language are preserved. Because of his advocacy, Bunbong now has improved roads, a water tower, and access to electricity and cell phone service. Additionally, since he began his chieftaincy, the region’s indigenous language, Komba, has received official recognition status.
