Biography

Karlyn Godoy (Karly),was raised in Tashirat by her mother, Tashirat’s founder. Since she was little, Karly has always led a very independent life. She received her Sivananda Yoga Teacher Certification at age 15, finished up her home-based high school education a year early at age 17, and joined a theatre group in Cuernavaca, Mexico that same year.  The next year, she found herself briefly in New York City studying at The Art Students League. The more she travelled and the more people she met, the more Karly realized how much she appreciated the Tashirat staff and the life philosophy of everyone that lived there. She also realized how much she appreciated living in a community surrounded by people who shared the same ideals and dedicated their lives to helping others. 

At age 18, Karly returned to Tashirat as a full-time staff member and adopted and raised her first two children from Tashirat. Karly now serves as the Director of Tashirat, having offically taken over from her mother in 2014. She is currently a parent to seven children from Tashirat and has parented an additional six Tashirat children that are now adults. Karly is the leader of a team of eight other staff members, all of whom strive to continue to push Tashirat forward in every way. With every passing year, Tashirat grows in its capacities to help under-privileged and at-risk children more and more. Karly strives to inspire and lead Tashirat staff members in their own personal growth and is continually propelling the project forward in order to expand and provide more children with a home and family.
