Biography

Nawneet is a documentary filmmaker interested in using his art to bring about social change. In 2011, Nawneet visited Dharavi and saw how the lives of thousands of residents living in small dwellings were being destroyed by the Indian government which was in the process of redeveloping the “slums” in Mumbai. His film, Dharavi Diary, takes a look at the situation through the eyes of four residents. From that, Nawneet committed to working to help empower the community and its residents. Now, Nawneet is teaching girls in Dharavi, to develop mobile apps with the aim of building their confidence and technology skills in the process.
