PATRICK KIMAWACHI
Biography
Patrick Kimawachi graduated from Bible College in 1988. Shortly there after, he started his own small church in Kibera in 1990. In 1992, Patrick and his wife started housing people in their home. Two years later, they had 20 children living with them. They decided to register as a Charitable Children’s Institution (CCI) with the Kenyan government. Though they would not receive any financial assistance from the government, the CCI designation would allow them to legally care for all the children in their charge. In 2005, Pastor Kimawachi realized his home was too small to house all the orphaned children in need. He reached out to his supporters and was able to raise money to purchase a 3.5 acre farm in Kitale.
The Kitale home now has 81 children, 15 of whom are in high school, 66 in primary school, and one baby living there.
