SEMAKULA SARAH
Biography
Sarah is dedicated to community and school development. She cares deeply about sustainable practices within education, and is committed to sharing those values and opportunities with the children at her school.
Semakula Sarah is a dedicated social worker and teacher. Together with other inspired educators, she founded the Johnson Nkosi Memorial Primary School. They believed education was an opportunity for the children in their community, many of whom were affected or orphaned by the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Uganda. Sarah is passionate about sustainability, and includes agriculture and craftmaking into their curriculum and operations. She feels rewarded when her school children learn and are effective contributors to the community at large.
Since the Johnson Nkosi Memorial Primary School was founded in 1999, over 3000 children have benefited from its education and general care services. The school is unique in the community, as it is only organization to provide schooling at a very low cost and is inclusive of all children, no matter what the circumstance. They are committed to the wellbeing of its students and provide formal counseling to all who attend their school.
