Meet the GO Campaign Volunteer Youth Advisory Board
The GO Campaign Volunteer Youth Advisory Board brings together young visionaries who care about the world we live in and want to make a positive change in their communities and around the world. Monthly meetings offer leadership skills and opportunities to expand knowledge of the nonprofit field. Meet some of the students below!
Lucy (Above Left) is a thirteen year old 8th grader and excited to be a part of GO Campaign Youth Advisory Board. She enjoys traveling the world and learning about different cultures. Her interests include theatre performance, drawing manga, reading, and eating sushi. Lucy loves to empower and encourage kids to grow, which is a big reason why she believes in the mission of GO Campaign. During her time on the Youth Advisory Board, she hopes to refine her leadership skills, develop strong relationships, and learn from Local Heroes and the GO Campaign staff.
Jack is a fourteen year old eighth grader from Los Angeles, California. He is a dedicated student, friend, brother and son. Jack is defined by his upbeat, positive attitude and always looks for the good in people and situations. He loves sports of all kinds especially basketball and lacrosse, and he is passionate about music as a guitar player in his school’s rhythm section. Jack was drawn to GO Campaign after reading about a local hero who brought music to his small town by making instruments from materials found in and around a landfill. Through the pandemic, Jack volunteered as a reading and math tutor to kids struggling in their remote schools. He was looking for a way to reach more children and learn how a nonprofit organization goes about finding local heroes and communities to serve.
Gabriella is a thirteen year old, seventh grader from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Her hobbies include playing the guitar and songwriting. She also enjoys swimming and badminton. Gabriella is highly motivated, conscientious and excels in collaborative work situations. It was the promised changes that GO Campaign continues to uphold that first captured her attention and desire to become part of this dynamic youth team. Gabriella is a visionary, always willing to go the extra mile to achieve great success. That great success in this case, means helping the less fortunate, and providing more opportunity to others, both locally and worldwide. Gabriella is passionate about issues of social justice and hopes to make a difference in the world. She views the bigger picture and believes in changing the world, by making it a greater home to all, one mindset at a time.
Caleb is a 17 year old from Los Angeles, California. He attends Windward School and is a rising senior. Caleb loves sports of any kind, and even has his own podcast dedicated to basketball. He also loves photography and traveling the during the summer. Caleb was so drawn to the Go Campaign because of the life altering work they do for communities throughout Los Angeles and the world, while still allowing the kids to be apart of that positive change. The global scale of the Go Campaign is another thing that Caleb loves about the organization as his favorite class he's been able to take so far in high school was an honors global studies course. Overall, Caleb can't wait to start helping.
Keira is a 15-year-old sophomore from Los Angeles, California. Keira attends Windward School. Keira loves playing soccer, reading, and working with kids. She also loves surfing and the beach! She is extremely passionate about the environmental crisis and one day hopes to start a charity of her own. She is so happy to be working with GO because she enjoys helping others in any way she can. Her favorite part about GO's mission is how they listen to those in need to find out what they want. She is excited to help GO accomplish their goals!
Christopher is a 16 year old from Los Angeles and is a rising Junior at Windward. Christopher plays volleyball for his school and enjoys various sports from golf too tennis. Additionally, he is part of Windward's robotics team. Christopher has long been passionate for service, having committed time to building homes in Mexico, delivering meals for homebound seniors, and fighting food insecurity. Christopher was interested in joining GO Campaign's youth advisory board as he values GO Campaign's commitment to partnering with local organizations throughout the world to drive change at the grass-roots level.
Max is a 16 year old from Los Angeles and is a rising Junior at Windward School. He enjoys outdoor activities such as playing tennis. Adding on to this, Max loves to give back to his community by participating in fundraisers or going around town to see if anyone needs assistance with anything. Max has recently participated in a few events helping out the homeless run by Big Sunday, a non-profit organization. Max has also recently participated in a tutoring program, to provide free assistance for kids who are not getting a full education in school. Max was very interested in joining the Youth Advisory Board for GO Campaign, because although he realizes that he will not be able to do something alone, he also realizes that if enough people come together, they will be able to accomplish great things.
